Somatix, a remote patient monitoring startup founded in 2015, announced on December 31st a $4.5 Million Series B funding round, bringing total funding to over $11 Million. The company was recently granted its second patent, which has to do with monitoring and influencing gesture-based behaviors.
Somatix provides a wearable-enabled monitoring software platform to healthcare providers, creating a solution for cost-effective healthcare and well-being enhancement. The company uses AI to monitor, in real time, detected gestures in order to determine falls, inactivity, dehydration, and more. They do this with both their own branded smart band and off-the-shelf smartwatches, smart bands, and IoT devices.
In June 2019, Catholic Senior Housing and Health Care Services, Inc. (CSHHCS) in Behtlehem, Pennsylvania, and Somatix launched a pilot program to field test Somatix's SafeBeing™ product. This would occur on CSHHCS's 20-acre campus, which includes independent living, personal care, short term rehabilitation, and long term skilled care. The program is funded by the the Israel-U.S. Binational Industrial Research and Development Foundation.
