MicroPort, a Shanghai company, acquired LivaNova's cardiac rhythm management (CRM) business unit in 2018. LivaNova itself was the result of the 2015 merger of the Italian Sorin and the Texas-based Cyberonics. MicroPort's $190M acquisition of LivaNova's CRM unit is only one of the company's many international acquisitions in the past decade.
