Medtronic has acquired 50+ companies on its way to the top of the medical devices industry. The company generates a majority of its sales in the US but moved its headquarters to the Republic of Ireland in 2007. Medtronic is now applying AI across a broad range of medical devices. Notably in 2021, Medtronic announced its robotic-assisted surgery system, Hugo, which will be used in a clinical procedure for the first time in and received de novo clearance from the FDA for its intelligent endoscopy module.
