Many up-and-coming tech companies are interested in using existing data in a new way, and Ellipsis Health is one of those companies. Founded in 2014, the company is using AI to help health systems screen their patients for conditions such as depression and get patients the care and support they need.
Ellipsis Health recently had its second patent application published, which teaches assessing the mental state of a subject across one or more sessions by presenting one or more queries to elicit a response from the subject and processing the response. The company has used labeled speech from over 10,000 patients to develop a tool to detect depression and anxiety. They claim they only require a few minutes of natural speech to assess anxiety and depression, making it easy to fit the assessment into normal care delivery.
Previously, Ellipsis Health has raised over $8 million to support growth. They participated in the first cohort of the Hartford-based Digital Health CT accelerator, which focused on AI and precision medicine healthcare technologies.
