Founded in 1871, Continental AG is a German automotive manufacturing company specializing in the automotive and transportation industries. As the world’s fourth-largest tire manufacturer, Continental focused on pressure sensors until about 2013, when it switched to developing wear sensors. In 2018, Continental AG developed an intelligent tire that comes with a pre-mounted sensor that constantly monitors the pressure and temperature of the tire and transmits that information in real-time. Alongside the intelligent tire, the company released a concept designed to warn drivers about an imminent risk of aquaplaning.
