A Japanese international chemical manufacturing company founded in 1949 and based in Osaka, Kaneka produces chemical products, such as functional resin, foam resin and synthetic fibers, and biotech products, such as coenzyme Q10 and apheresis devices. In the early 2000's, Kaneka started developing biopolymers, including compositions and microbial fermentation technology. Their most recent research is focused on polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA). It has created a biodegradable polymer which can be used in biodegradable packaging.
