IBM is applying its vast patent portfolio in the field of brain-machine interactions by feeding human brain data into AI systems with the ultimate goal of eventually facilitating direct computer-brain communication for healthcare purposes. Notably, researchers at IBM are developing a system to analyze brain waves and use AI to predict epileptic seizures. The brain data is computed through IBM's brain-inspired microchip, TrueNorth, which IBM expects to eventually use in tandem with brain-monitoring implants.
