Brain Machine Interface

University Of Washington

The University of Washington has been leading research in non-invasive brain-machine interfaces since 2006, when it became one of the first to demonstrate control of a humanoid robot using a brain computer interface. More recently, the University has been performing research on cooperation between user and brain computer interface to solve a given task. In 2021, this research led to a stroke recovery device which received FDA market authorization. The device is a wearable robotic skeleton that fits over a patient's hand and wrist and assists with hand movement based on the patient's thoughts.
