GBS Global BioPharma Inc. of Ontario, Canada received a patent (US Pat. No. 10,653,640) this week for a complex cannabinoid mixture for treating neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinson’s disease.
A main cannabinoid (CBD or CBN) is mixed with a minor cannabinoid (cannabichromene, cannabigerol, and cannabidivarin) and terpenes (limonene, linalool, nerolidol, pinene, and phytol) along with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
Cannabinoids can target mechanistic pathways of Parkinson’s disease as well as have beneficial effects on the mitochondria by acting as an antioxidant and decreasing oxidative stress.
