Canopy Growth, formally known as Tweed Marijuana Inc., is a Canadian based cannabis company. It was the first cannabis company to be publicly traded on the NYSE in May 2018. The company employs 3,000+ employees, and continues to grow as more states in the US begin to loosen restrictions on marijuana. Canopy currently produces both medical and recreational marijuana, hemp, and in November 2019 announced it would begin producing edible cannabis products. Although the company was initially founded in Canada, expansion into the US started in April 2019 when Canopy purchased Acreage Holdings, a corporation with a diverse portfolio of cannabis operations in the US.
