Eight Sleep originally raised over $1.2 million in a 2015 Indiegogo campaign for a sleep tracker and smart bed cover. Since then, the company has introduced a range of smart mattresses that interact with personal assistant devices and actively control temperature. Most of the startup's patent portfolio is focused on temperature control technology (much of which can be found in its smart mattress, The Pod) and vibration-based alarms. The vibration technology does not appear to be available in Eight Sleep's product lineup and may be implemented further along in the product road map. Eight Sleep also received funding from SoftBank in 2021 as part of its Miami investment initiative.
