System And Method For Associating Music With Brain-state Data

A system and method may be provided for associating bio-signal data (e.g. EEG brain scan data) from at least one user with at least one music data item (e.g. song, or piece of music). By associating bio-signal data, or emotions determined therefrom, with music, the system may establish a data store of music associated with emotions. That database may then be leveraged upon determining that a user is feeling a particular emotion through an EEG scan. When a particular emotion is detected in EEG data of a user, the system may then respond based at least partly on the same or similar emotion being associated with one or more music data items in the system. For example, the system may recommend a particular song associated with the same emotion presently being experienced by the user.

2 Independent Claims

  • 1. A computer-implemented method for sharing a user experience, comprising: receiving bio-signal data for a plurality of users from a plurality of bio-signal sensors; receiving sound data representing sound experienced by each of the users; determining a physiological state of each of the users based at least in part on the bio-signal data of that user; determining an environmental state associated with each of the users based at least in part on the sound data; using a rules engine, determining if a condition is met, based at least in part on the physiological state of each of the users and the environmental state associated with each user; upon the condition being met, executing an associated action including generating a sensory signal; and sending the sensory signal to transducers to output a sensory output to each of the users based on the sensory signal.

  • 11. A shared user experience system, comprising: a plurality of bio-signal sensors to capture bio-signal data from a plurality of users; an input device for at least one user to change a state of a rules engine; a plurality of transducers to output a sensory output to each of the users; and a computing device in communication with the bio-signal sensors, the acoustic sensor, and the transducers, the computing device configured to: receive bio-signal data for the users from the bio-signal sensors; receive input data from the input device; determine a physiological state of each of the users based at least in part on the bio-signal data of that user; using the rules engine, determine if a condition is met, based at least in part on the physiological state of each of the users; and upon the condition being met, execute an associated action including generate a sensory signal and send the sensory signal to the transducers to output a sensory output to the users based on the sensory signal.
