Wistron, a major Taiwanese manufacturer of information and communication technology devices, recently filed their first patent application that may have implications in the sleep sector. Having to do with examining the posture of a user, it could easily apply to sleep tracking. This is the first patent in the sector for a company that has hundreds of other patents.
Wistron designs and manufactures products for other companies, and these companies then brand and sell the devices under their own name. It will be interesting to see who Wistron may be manufacturing for that could utilize this technology. For example, Wistron has a partnership with Microsoft, so this image detection technology could be seen in future Android Phones.
