Arenar recently received a patent for an EEG headband that induces sleep using audio and visual cues. The iBand Plus includes pillow speakers and an app that allows users to monitor sleep, view sleep quality, and receive feedback. Additionally, the app allows users to select a focus for the sleep period, including lucid dreaming and sleep improvement.
Arenar launched a Kickstarter campaign in 2016 for the iBand Plus. According to the website for the device, the company estimates that the device will be ready to ship in May 2020.
This is the first patent for Arenar. The Consumer Sleep Technology Sector is seeing an increase in EEG headband devices, including those that can alter a sleep environment like the iBand Plus. Companies active in this space include Philips with the SmartSleep Deep Sleep Headband and InteraXon with the Muse headband.
