Vapor IO is an Austin based start-up that was discussed in a previous insight published in June for their work in the blockchain category of Edge Computing. While still a fairly small player in the space with only six patent documents in the blockchain category of the edge computing sector, they have had continued success in partnering with other companies. Their biggest partnership to date is with Cloudflare, but recently they have announced a partnership to host AlefEdge's Mobile Edge Computing Platform across all 36 locations that Vapor plans to have live by 2021.
Alef is a different type of partnership for Vapor, focusing on enterprises instead of mobile carrier use like the majority of the work that Vapor has done for other companies. With the $90 Million C-series round funding available to help them roll out their solution and momentum in gaining partners that want to utilize their technology, Vapor is only going up. They would be wise to follow their success with increased activity in the blockchain category, which still has plenty of white space, and the opportunity to take the lead from Akamai Technologies.
