Itron announced that it has signed a contract with Liberty Utilities Company, which operates nearly 40 utilities in 13 states. Liberty Utilities will deploy Itron's OpenWay® Riva, an IoT solution that includes an open, standards-based network for gas, electricity, and water. Itron's platform will improve operations by optimizing grid performance, proactively managing risk in real time, and responding to rapidly changing grid conditions.
As the third top patent holder in the Energy Financial Settlement sector, Itron has an extensive patent portfolio to support its goals. In fact, it was issued two new patents this week relating to detecting high impedance conditions in an electrical grid. This technology will prove invaluable in minimizing risk as quickly as possible.
