Microsoft is the owner of the Xbox series of game consoles, as well as the publisher of both console and PC video games. While Microsoft has not developed much of its own VR headgear, it does have numerous patents directed toward virtual 3D rendering that are likely applicable to virtual reality worlds. Furthermore, Microsoft announced in January 2022 that it would be purchasing Activision Blizzard, expanding its portfolio in the space greatly.
