Hibar Systems was an Ontario-based company that Tesla acquired in 2019 for its patent assets relating to battery manufacturing technology. This acquisition is in line with Tesla's plan for complete vertical integration as the technology it acquired with Hibar should help Tesla move closer to manufacturing its own batteries in-house.
