San Diego biotechnology company Librede has patented a novel way to produce cannabinoids from yeast that is economically and environmentally sustainable. The NIH awarded over $1.4 million Phase II Small Business Innovative Research Grant to Librede to further develop and scale their yeast-based cannabinoid and drug discovery platform.
Cannabis is now legally being used to treat a wide variety of medical conditions, including chronic pain, alcoholism, anxiety, nausea (from chemotherapy) and epilepsy.
