MiaSolé has almost 20 documents in the Thin Film Photovoltaics sector, but its portfolio noticeably contains a gap between 2011 and 2018 in which no applications were filed in this sector. However, the company made a comeback to its IP investment with four publications in 2019 so far, as well as an R&D update. It announced that the Fraunhofer ISE has independently confirmed that MiaSolé set the new large area flexible photovoltaic efficiency world record at 17.44%.
Its most recent patent document, in fact, relates to a method of preparing CIGS thin film solar cells, which mirrors the manufacturing process of the record module. As a subsidiary of Hanergy, MiaSolé is likely to follow up on its patent activity and research developments with market activity.
