Neuralink wants to drill into your skull

AI Biotech/Diagnostics: Other Innovation Patent Forecast®

July 18, 2019

On July 16, Neuralink made a much awaited presentation to the biotech world. The company presented its initial research; they want to implant a chip onto the brain so paralyzed individuals can control phones and computers. A long term goal is to merge completely with artificial intelligence.

Neuralink was co-founded by Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX. Given his history in forward thinking tech, it is not a surprise to see him so energized in this field. Musk has taken an interesting patent strategy with these companies - Tesla already has over 250 issued patents while SpaceX doesn't patent anything - it will be interesting to see what route Neuralink takes with its IP Portfolio.
