Kare Beams into Sleep

Consumer Sleep Technology Patent Forecast®

September 11, 2019

Kare, a small speaker company in Alabama, was founded in order to bring to life the ChairSpeaker, an adjustable speaker system engineered to help individuals better hear a TV without turning up the TV volume, and as an alternative to headphones or devices that would require taking out a hearing aid. After initial commercial success, the company seems to be branching out.

Kare recently filed an application for a pillow that uses bone conduction to provide an audio experience. While this device may be intended to provide for watching television in bed without disturbing others, which would fit with the mission of the company, it has great application in the sleep sector. Many individuals would like to listen to music or white noise as they fall asleep, but do not want to use headphones. This IP may be an interesting acquisition for a company such as Dreem, who includes analysis of brain waves in their stimulative sleep device.
