Kneevoice is a Santa Monica based startup taking a novel approach to preventive medicine in the musculoskeletal space. The company, which is a part of the Preccelerator program in Santa Monica, recently was issued their first patent for the device being developed.
The company has developed a sound-based system that utilizes machine learning to monitor the status of the knee. Previously, this was done only in non-dynamic, non-specific, or invasive tests. Now, the company claims they can non-invasively collect and analyze a user's knee sound emission signals. This data is analyzed to establish a score representing the health of the cartilage.
From a preventative medicine standpoint, this device aims to help people to listen to their bodies in order to excel in physical activities at a higher level and avoid injuries, or as a means to monitor progress after an intervention procedure.
