Toyota and Momenta, a Chinese AI startup, are partnering to commercialize HD Maps for self-driving cars. The HD maps are a lower-cost alternative to the LIDAR systems that Waymo and others are using. Toyota has 69 issued patents in this space at this time. Momenta does not appear to have any US patents in image recognition, but about 51 total applications and patents in China.
