Alibaba Group is one of many companies recognizing the world's dependence on digital tools and cloud infrastructure in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. In response, and specifically in response to the rise of video-conferencing, Alibaba has announced it is investing over $28 billion (200 billion yuan, to be exact) in its cloud infrastructure. Over the next three years, the company will build new data centers and develop new semiconductors and operating systems.
Alibaba currently has no published edge computing IP in the United States, but still has a presence in the United States and abroad with the Alibaba Cloud. The Alibaba Cloud includes 21 data center regions around the world, nearly 3,000 nodes, and operates across APAC, the Middle East, Europe, and the United States.
Previously, Alibaba launched a free remote office function to 10 million organizations, which is hosted on the Alibaba Cloud, in response to the pandemic.
