6 Independent Claims

  • 1. A film comprising: polyamic acid (PAA); glutaraldehyde (GA); and one or more of alanine (A), tryptophan (W), 2-benzylbenzoyl (BB), Polycaprolactone (PCl), L-Cysteine (C), D-glucosamine (DA), dipropylene glycol (DP), p-aminobenzoic acid (pAB), L-isoleucine (I), p-aminosalicylic acid (pAS), sulfanilic acid (SA), 5-aminosalicylic acid (5AS).

  • 17. A method of making a film, comprising: mixing 4,4′-oxydianiline and PMDA to form a first mixture; heating the first mixture to form a second mixture comprising polyamic acid (PAA); adding glutaraldehyde (GA) to the second mixture and adding one or more of alanine (A), tryptophan (W), 2-benzylbenzoyl (BB), Polycaprolactone(PCl), L-Cysteine (C), D-glucosamine (DA), dipropylene glycol (DP), p-aminobenzoic acid (pAB), L-isoleucine (I), p-aminosalicylic acid (pAS), sulfanilic acid (SA), 5-aminosalicylic acid (5AS) to the second mixture, to form a third mixture; and forming a film after a predetermined time of incubation.

  • 24. A method of packaging a food material, the method comprising: covering at least a portion of the food material with a film, the film comprising polyamic acid (PAA) and glutaraldehyde (GA).

  • 27. A method of monitoring food spoilage of a food product, the method comprising: applying a polyamic acid (PAA) film to at least a portion of the food product; and monitoring the film for a change in at least one of a color of the film and a conductivity of the film.

  • 29. A film comprising: polyamic acid (PAA); a cross-linker; and a small molecule.

  • 36. A method of making a film, comprising: mixing a plasticizer and PMDA to form a first mixture, heating the first mixture to form a second mixture comprising polyamic acid (PAA), and incubating the second mixture for a predetermined time, wherein the second mixture, after the predetermined time of incubation, forms a film.
