A previous report indicated that Facense, an Israeli start-up company, is planning on releasing smartglasses capable of monitoring a user's vitals.
Facense's newest published application, Patent Publication No. 20200245873, suggests that the glasses may not only monitor the user's body temperature and blood pressure, but also listen to cough sounds to determine if they match sounds characteristic of COVID-19 infection. However, while the application states that it is for a method of "Detecting Respiratory Tract Infection Based On Changes In Coughing Sounds," both independent claims appear to be directed to diagnosing COVID-19 based on the head movements of the wearer.
Based on its current filings, it appears that Facense may be attempting to create a wearable device capable of detecting a large number of vital signs. Magic Number® will continue monitoring Facense in the coming months to see if the start-up continues to add new diagnostic capabilities to its wearable sensor.
