Amazon has been the owner of Twitch.tv, by far the largest provider of video game streaming, since an acquisition in 2014. This is reflected in Amazon's patent activity, which tends to be more focused on streaming and spectator input. Beyond Twitch, Amazon created the Amazon University Esports series in 2020, which pitted more than 200 universities across the UK, Spain, and Italy against each other.
