IBM, based in Armonk NY, is a multinational technology company active in over 170 countries world wide. The company is one of the worlds largest employers, boasting over 352,000 employees.
IBM has been involved in Pandemic research since at least 1976 when the WHO began using IBM built computers to track the spread of smallpox. Since then, the company has focused some of its research on developing and building computers and technology useful in the detection and tracking of infectious disease breakouts during an epidemic or pandemic.
